It's hockey night tonight...

September 21, 2003

After months of withdrawal, it's hockey time again.

The Leafs are back from Finland and Sweden, where they began their pre-season on the "big ice".

In case you missed it, NHL.COM has streaming video of all three games!

The Boys (or some of them, as many had been given the night off to recover from jetlag) found themselves on the losing end of a 4-2 battle against the Beef on Weck Sabres.  Not exactly a brilliant homecoming for the Buds, but in true Leaf fashion, "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you sell out the Air Canada Centre".

Speaking of sucking, did anyone see the Red Wings last night?  That Hasek looked like he hadn't played hockey in a couple years!  Oh, wait a minute...he hasn't!    They were blown away by the New York Rangers, but this must have been a fluke, as it is rumoured that the Rangers lost abysmally to the Minnesota Wild to the tune of 9 - 1.

Oh well, you know what colour we bleed here...even if we don't recognize half of the team!

UPDATE:  Here are some pools for your (and our) enjoyment!

SPORTSNET and KIA present another year of their hockey pool (make week 1 picks by OCT. 8)

TSN and MOLSON CANADIAN's PICK 10 pool (pick 10 players, not up yet)

CANOE.CA and SPEED STICK have their pool for yet another year (not up yet)

That should get you started...email honkeynightincanada@egulphy.com for group password details!
